Derrick "Trip" Triplett, arrived at the helicarrier in his full shield uniform, watching the others in the room. A few people refused to meet his eyes. A few others gave him solemn nods of respect but didn't move to speak to him. He returned the nods and made his way to the lab, knowing that their hesitation was partially of discomfort with what they knew of him. His father was a SHIELD agent killed in the line of duty and his great-grandfather was one of the Howling Commandos. They respected his pedigree.

But they can't abide a predator in their midst.

The Other's voice was a whisper in his head but it was a whisper that slipped between the spaces in his thoughts with liquid ease.

He arrived at the lab and knocked, taking a deep breath as he tried to settle his nerves. He did not need a freak out on the lab guy. It would just make everything tougher for everyone.

Knowledge of Torture- Between the influence of the symbiote, his military/SHIELD training and his medical knowledge, Trip is knowledgeable in several forms torture. He has also experienced prolonged torture at the hands of HYDRA over a four month period.

As Venom:

The symbiote grants the host all the powers of its first known host, Spider-Man. This includes:

Superhuman Strength, Speed, Agility, Stamina, Reflexes and Endurance

-Venom can lift 10 tons. He can lift 12 tons in times of duress and great personal danger.

- He is several times faster and more agile than most humans, on the same level as Spider-Man.

-Venom's reaction times are as fast as those of Spider-Man

-The symbiote heals its host of as injuries, granting a limited healing factor so long as the two are in contact and bonded.

- Venom can exert himself for up to one hour before fatigue sets in.

-Venom can create organic, living webbing by drawing on the suit's mass. This allows his webs to crawl along floors, slink along ceilings and obey his mental commands.

-Limited telepathy: This allows the host and the suit to communicate with each other over a distance of two miles if separated. Outside of two miles, this ability does not function.

-Limited Shapeshifting: The symbiote can mimic any clothing the wearer can imagine. The symbiote is also capable of camouflaging the wearer with his surroundings and turning him invisible.

-Immune to Spider-Sense: The symbiote, through its time with Spider-Man (Peter Parker), has developed its own spider-sense which cancels out that of Peter Parker or those of his bloodline, allowing Venom to sneak up on Parker or his descendants if he chooses.

-Spider-Sense: Limited Precognition that allows him to avoid or react to danger faster than others.

- While wearing the symbiote, Derrick is immune to toxins, like alcohol, as the suit filters them out as quickly. He is also immune to the common cold and influenza through the symbiote's granted healing factor.

Weaknesses and flaws:

Without the symbiote, Derrick is a normal human being with all of the associated weaknesses and frailties. Even with the symbiote, he must sleep for at least twelve hours and consume a five-thousand calorie diet to keep up with the symbiote's demands on his body.

The symbiote is vulnerable to fire and sonic weapons. Both sources of cause the symbiote great pain and fear. When in the presence of these two sources, the symbiote has difficulty maintaining cohesion and will often try to convince the host to escape mentally. If that doesn't work, it's not above simply taking control of the host and escaping the area.

Personality: Derrick is a soldier, through and through. His grandfather and father were both SHIELD agents and he respects them both deeply. He is dedicated to SHIELD and to his team, but he has to balance this against the desires of the symbiote with whom he's bonded. He has issue forming personal relationships, especially with the symbiote demanding his attention, but he's charming, funny and loyal to those who merit it.

He is deeply bothered at being a wetworks agent and prefers to heal inside of kill, but he's good at his job. Deep down, he's afraid of dying in the line of duty the way his father and grandfather both did. Furthermore, he doesn't trust anyone else to wear the symbiote and not become a raging psychopath. He's done his research on the second owner of the suit, Eddie Brock and doesn't want to become anything like that.

Venom thrives on the fear of others and is adept at killing.  While he doesn't enjoy it as much as he once did, he understands the need for it.

Backstory: Derrick Triplett, called "Trip" by his friends and fellow agents, was born on March 23, 1988 in Hong Kong. His mother vanished shortly after his birth and his father died in the line of duty when he turned eight. He lived with extended family for several years and grew up a happy, if withdrawn young man. He grew up hearing stories of his grandfather, Gabe Jones of the Howling Commandos from his father, Antoine "Trip" Triplett and he decided when at ten that he'd join the military. He loves military history and collects and restores old weapons.

Trip did army JROTC in high school and joined the U.S. Army at age 18 at the rank of Private First Class, rising to the rank of Corporal at 20. Nick Fury personally challenged him to enlist SHIELD on his 20th birthday and Trip, not one to back down from a challenge, did so. He joined SHIELD the following year in the same class as Quinn Barton. The two became developed a friendly rivalry during training with Quinn proving himself a superior marksman and Trip surpassing Barton in history and medical knowledge.

Quinn's betrayal shook Trip to his core as he wondered if he'd misjudged his friend. One year ago, Trip volunteered to go undercover within a HYDRA cell in South Korea. He funneled information back to SHIELD but his cover was blown when he distracted HYDRA soldiers long enough to let a fellow SHIELD agent escape. He was captured and tortured for four months by Huntress 19 and other Hydra agents, but he never broke. This torture instilled a hatred of the terrorist organization within Trip.

That hatred was sensed by the Venom symbiote, whom had been captured by HYDRA some years before. They'd attempted to clone and bend the creature to their will. When SHIELD razed the facility, Trip freed himself and killed his captor, but was too weak to escape the base. The symbiote, also freed from captivity, found Trip and offered to bond with him so that they could escape, leading to the rebirth of Venom.

Trip returned to SHIELD and, after a battery of tests, was cleared to return to duty. Due to his unique set of skills, Trip serves as a wetworks agent, which is the last place he saw himself when he joined up. While he doesn't enjoy the work, he knows that a certain amount of violence keeps the symbiote sated and mostly compliant.

Mostly.

Plans: Work with the SHIELD team as brick and stealth operative,  as Joe is leaving for the Invaders . Someday interact with Spider-Man. Kick the crap out of HYDRA and all enemies foreign and domestic. Strive to keep himself in check so that the monster within doesn't overwhelm him.
